Ravindra Gavhane is a young farmer who practices agriculture with proper study of the market and its prices. 15 days before the last Kharif season, he planted tissue-cultured seedlings of banana (G-9) variety in an area of 2 acres. He nearly planted 2700 banana seedlings in a total area of 2 acres. Each month he provided essential nutrients for bananas through drip irrigation. He also devised appropriate measures for crop diseases and pests. To cultivate bananas on a 1-acre of land cost him 1 lakh 70 thousand rupees and, on average, he received a rate of 12,000 rupees per ton.
